Jacquline Ruan is a first-year Pre-Business Economics major and intends to minor in Accounting and Global Studies. Born and raised in foggy San Francisco, she chose UCLA not only because it is the #1 public university in California, but also because of the weather! She loves hot weather and the outdoors. Jacquline also loves to travel and has been to Senegal, China, and the Dominican Republic —all of which are pretty hot places! For someone who loves hot weather, she was also a competitive figure skater for 5 years. Nowadays, she is just enjoying LA’s weather and pursuing her interest in finance while working hard to stay on top of her school work!

Elena Bell is a first-year majoring in Biochemistry. She was born and raised in San Diego, California and is currently living in Los Angeles. Elena has always been curious about the world, which is what led her to pursue science. She enjoys listening to music while studying, and in her free time, she likes to read, play games on her phone, and watch TV shows or videos on YouTube. She also likes going to see movies and plays with friends and family. Currently, she is working towards getting involved with research in the future.

Kienna Qin is a third-year Statistics major with no double major or minor because she is far too indecisive about her variety of interests. Ranging from homelessness to mass incarceration to sustainability to mindful eating, Kienna hosts many passions in a plethora of topics. Nevertheless, she plans to have a job in the future that will tie together her love for big data and social justice. Outside of school, you can always find her trying out the newest plant-based restaurants in L.A., spending way too long designing her planner on her iPad, getting coffee wherever and whenever, refreshing her Instagram feed every five minutes, or exploring the city with her boyfriend.

Brian Jefferson Cheng is a first-year Pre-Human Biology and Society major on the pre-med course of study. He grew up in Temple City, California and is currently living on campus as a full-time student. As of now, he has his heart set on becoming a medical surgeon and involves himself in the fascinating areas of medical science frequently through his current occupation and other academic pursuits. On the other side of the spectrum, he prefers to get in touch with his creative side through the study of piano and violin as well as music composition, and is constantly searching for ways to inspire the development of his musical technique and compositional skill.

Shirley Yao is a first-year undeclared-social science student, intending to major in Communications and minor in Linguistics and Film. Born in China, she moved to New York City at the age of 12. In her free time, she watches Youtube, especially mukbangs. Due to her passion for eating, Shirley cannot decide on one favorite food but it ranges from ramen to fried chicken, and pad thai to pho. With her obsession with the phone and the Internet, she hopes to work in social media or advertising in the future and is currently involved in the Daily Bruin and marketing departments of clubs.

Ellyot Chen is a 2nd-year transfer majoring in English and goes by she/her/hers pronouns. Living in the 626 area, or also known as the San Gabriel Valley, she has a huge love for boba. Beginning her cooking adventures, she has recently mastered the art of cooking vegetarian Japanese curry from the pack. Along with that, she enjoys discovering new pescatarian-friendly recipes. Besides hunting down free food events and trying not to burn down her kitchen, she aids underserved communities by volunteering at Bruin Shelter (a student homeless shelter), Jumpstart and UCLA UniCamp.
